About the Unit

The Investigations Unit is responsible for follow-up investigations, major case management, evidence coordination, and interagency support.
While Falcon Hollow is a small community, the unit handles a wide range of cases — from property crimes to complex investigations requiring collaboration with county, state, and federal partners.

Detectives work closely with Patrol, Records Management, Communications, and regional forensic services to ensure thorough case development and clear communication with the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Lead Detective – Travis “Duke” Mantz

Detective Mantz oversees all major investigations for the department. He manages case assignments, leads interviews, coordinates with the State’s Attorney and county forensic personnel, and assists patrol officers with field investigations.
He also provides investigative support during critical incidents and serves as the department’s liaison to regional task forces when needed.

The Investigations Unit is supported by the Patrol Supervisor and county resources during periods of high caseload or major incidents.
Applicants must meet Maryland certification requirements and possess strong investigative, analytical, and report-writing skills.
