Biography
Born March 14, 1968, Arthur Pendleton knew from his high school years that he wanted to pursue a career in education. After completing college, he began teaching in the Falcon Hollow area, including a period at Falcon Hollow High School. His early classroom experiences reinforced his belief that education should provide students with academic knowledge, personal responsibility, and the confidence to think independently.
Arthur spent the majority of his professional career at Samuel Whitmore Middle School, first as a classroom teacher and later in school administration. Working with students during the transition from childhood to adolescence gave him a particular appreciation for the importance of strong elementary education. He frequently observed how early academic preparation, consistent expectations, and parental involvement influenced a student's success in later grades.
Around 2020, Arthur accepted the position of principal at Evergreen Elementary School. Drawing upon his extensive middle school experience, he has emphasized academic fundamentals, classroom discipline, and close communication between teachers and families. He encourages educators to maintain professional objectivity, focusing on established curriculum and helping students develop their own understanding rather than promoting personal political beliefs.
Although Arthur maintains high expectations for students and staff, he is neither unapproachable nor unnecessarily severe. He believes children learn best in an environment where kindness and accountability work together. Often seen greeting students in the hallways or speaking with parents during school activities, he takes particular pride in watching Evergreen's fifth graders move on to Samuel Whitmore Middle School prepared for the next stage of their education.
