Biography
Born September 22, 1982, in Williamsport, Maryland, Skye Anderson grew up in Western Maryland and developed an early interest in education and working with young people. After completing her college education, she began a teaching career in the region, quickly earning a reputation for her enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to connect with students. She believed that learning should be challenging and meaningful, but also engaging enough to encourage curiosity and participation.
As her career progressed, Skye moved into educational administration, eventually becoming assistant principal at Samuel Whitmore Middle School. During her years in that position, she developed strong relationships with teachers, students, and families while gaining valuable experience in school operations, curriculum development, and student discipline. Around 2023, she was appointed principal, marking her first opportunity to lead a school of her own.
Skye embraces modern teaching techniques, classroom technology, collaborative learning, and creative educational programs while maintaining a strong appreciation for traditional academic fundamentals. She believes teachers should encourage independent thinking and maintain professional objectivity rather than introducing personal political agendas into classroom instruction. Like her colleague Arthur Pendleton at Evergreen Elementary School, she considers parental involvement, academic accountability, and consistent expectations essential to a student's education.
Friendly, outgoing, and quick with a compliment or encouraging word, Skye is rarely content to remain behind her office desk. She enjoys greeting students in the hallways, exchanging high-fives, attending extracurricular activities, and celebrating individual accomplishments. Although her playful personality makes her approachable, she is equally capable of addressing disciplinary problems with firmness and fairness. Above all, Skye wants students to leave Samuel Whitmore Middle School academically prepared, confident in their abilities, and ready for the challenges of high school.
