Biography

Born and raised in Falcon Hollow, Sofia Ramirez developed an appreciation for books and learning during the many hours she spent at the Falcon Hollow Public Library as a child. The library became a familiar part of her upbringing, offering a place to explore new interests and discover stories beyond the boundaries of her hometown. After graduating from Falcon Hollow High School, Sofia left town to attend college, eventually earning a graduate degree in library and information science before returning to the community where she had grown up.

Sofia began her professional career at the Falcon Hollow Public Library, working in several areas of library service and gaining experience with the everyday responsibilities of a community library. Her work brought her into contact with patrons of all ages, from children discovering their first books to longtime residents who had made the library part of their weekly routines. In 2014, she was promoted to Assistant Director for Library Services, working directly under longtime director Eileen Mantz and taking on greater responsibility for the library's programs and operations.

When Eileen Mantz retired in 2018 after twenty-one years as director, Sofia was selected to succeed her. Having spent years working within the organization, she understood both the traditions that residents valued and the changing needs of the community. As director, she has continued to support the library's educational programs, public services, and role as a gathering place while looking for opportunities to introduce new activities and encourage greater community participation.

Today, Sofia remains a familiar and welcoming presence at the Falcon Hollow Public Library. She enjoys working with staff, meeting patrons, and developing programs that bring people together through books, learning, and shared interests. In 2026, she began organizing the town's inaugural Literary Festival, inviting former director Eileen Mantz to return as a consultant. Although her responsibilities now extend well beyond the circulation desk, Sofia has never forgotten what first drew her to the library as a child. She continues to see it as a place where everyone in Falcon Hollow should feel welcome.
